NFL Power Rankings - Preseason
Like my Top 25, I will be updating this every week, but on Tuesdays
1. Patriots – another easy schedule, but is there defense aging too much?
2. Chargers – Merriman is gonna play. With or without him, they have a great D, if not the best and LT of course…lots of playmakers on this team
3. Cowboys – its their year, supposedly. Everyone, including me, is wondering if they can get past the Pacman, TO, and Jessica Simpson distractions
4. Steelers – What a draft! Big Ben has lots of weapons now
5. Giants – lost some key defensive linemen, but if the subs can fill in nicely, they should have a tough D once again
6. Colts – they’ve got injuries too, but its not looking too bleak, yet….
7. Jaguars – they’re getting better every year, but can they overtake the Colts this year?
8. Browns – they shouldn’t miss the playoffs this year
9. Packers – without Favre, they’ll be just fine with a solid young D, an improving line and up and coming running game
10. Saints – Brees gained some weapons in Shockey and Mecham. If the D has improved, they could take the South
11. Vikings – one good QB from making a deep playoff run
12. Panthers – this may be high, but they finally have some RBs, Delhomme and Peppers are back, and they are just plain hungry
13. Eagles – McNabb is healthy, right? Westbrook is finally getting the attention he deserves. They upgraded an already good D. They will be the wildcard in the toughest division in the league
14. Seattle – Holmgren’s last year…everyone is talking about how they are underrated…I don’t think so. They play in one of the weakest divisions every year. Stick ‘em in the NFC East and see how they do. Is Shaun Alexander still a FA?
15. Buccaneers – Garcia and Galloway are getting old, but these guys are still a team to reckon with
16. Titans – Vince didn’t get any receivers this year….but he’s still Vince
17. Jets – with all the other improvements, Favre makes them a playoff contender, but that’s about hit…enjoy your ride into the sunset Favre
18. Broncos – This is Jay Cutler’s proving year….if he can get them to contend for a WC, he might still be around next year.
19. Redskins – Cambell has a good mentor in Zorn….can he prove his worth now?
20. Bills – Relegated to third in their division bc of Favre, but it will be close
21. Texans – poised for a run; a sleeper team; Super Mario is looking really good compared to what was originally thought about him
22. Ravens – A tough decision at QB will keep them floundering in the AFC North
23. Cardinals – Will they make a decision at QB already? Using two quarterbacks is done in college football, not the pros
24. Rams – Stephen Jackson got his extension, now he has to prove it
25. Bears – Hester is their biggest weapon and Orton is only a temp fix at QB
26. Bengals – This may be too low for them….depends on how good their D is
27. Raiders – Sleeper team with a ton of talent bc of Russell and McFadden
28. Lions – another sleeper team…maybe
29. Chiefs – LJ is their only hope and he doesn’t look to be much hope right now
30. Dolphins – Should surprise some ppl. Can’t get much worse than last year, right?
31. Falcons – Matt Ryan might get thrown to the wolves early. If we have seen anything from previous teams doing this, the Falcons would let Redman take over first…at least a couple games anyway
32. 49ers – JT O’Sullivan?!! Wow. Mike Martz might be the offensive coordinator but I’m not really liking this team right now. Another “we’ll see what happens” team
