NFL Power Rankings - Week 5

1. Giants – What a way to climb…let the top couple teams fall first. Nicely done by the defending champs, but can they keep it up? Without Strahan and that other guy I don’t know how to spell, they are looking just like last year. Could you imagine it with them?
2. Titans – 4-0 ….. with Kerry Collins. Just let that sink in for a little ….. Ok, still hasn’t? Hopefully VY is learning a few things so he can come back bc there is no way Collins is the long term answer.
3. Cowboys – close, tough loss to the Redskins. They’ll bounce back though, especially with who they are playing their next three games.
4. Bills – the only other undefeated team. Dick Jauron isn’t known for his success but he may have found all of the right pieces now. If they make it to the Super Bowl though, they’ll probably just lose like they always do.
5. Steelers – pulled out a tough win on MNF. But with only one health RB, can Big Ben carry this team by himself?
6. Panthers – they have their best WR duo with Smith and Moose since they had….well, Smith and Moose. Teams will have to start respecting that soon which will lead to a stronger running game for them too.
7. Redskins – huge win for the Skins. Zorn seems to know what he is doing in Washington, but it will be hard to keep up in the toughest division out there.
8. Eagles – Tough loss, but no Westbrook, so I’ll give them a little credit this week. Washington comes to town this week.
9. Chargers – Didn’t turn it on until the 4th quarter, but 25 pts is still really sweet. Imagine what they could do in a whole game. Look out Denver!
10. Buccaneers – Griese is undefeated since taking over. If they don’t win their division, they’ll be a tough out for the wildcard
11. Broncos – KC is never a friendly place for them and they lost once again there. Hopefully Shannahan took some good notes in this game so they know how to fend off the Chargers
12. Jaguars – David Gerrard is carrying this team just like he did last year. Taylor and MJD need to step it up so he isn’t doing it himself.
13. Ravens – tough loss in a game they needed to make a big statement in. But this team is still performing a little better than expected, so they’ll be fun to watch.
14. Patriots – had a bye week to regather themselves. Should come out firing against the 49ers. They need the win to keep up in the division.
15. Packers – Almost had two losses in one day….if Rodgers goes down, it won’t be pretty. He is starting to get antsy, so he just needs to go back to the basics and he’ll be fine
16. Saints – they needed the win and needed Deuce back. If you were a fantasy owner of Pierre Thomas (like me) he’s no longer much of an option with Deuce being back.
17. Jets – 6 TDs?!!? Don’t think Favre can do that every week, but I think he is getting used to being a Jet know. The only question is if they can actually give Buffalo a run for their money…
18. Bears – eeked out the win against the Eagles. Now they just need more consistency from their offense
19. Colts – needed the bye to get healthy. Manning should be back in sync now. They just gotta climb back to the top of their division where they are used to being.
20. Cardinals – Kurt Warner got hit a lot…he needs much better protection if they want to keep him in as QB. Some would say this is a must win against Buffalo coming up.
21. 49ers – JT O’Sullivan is holding up so far…
22. Vikings – Gus may not be the answer either and their season doesn’t get much easier.
23. Falcons – Turner is the guy that will make this team succeed….just has to prove he can do it
24. Seahawks – hopefully they have some healthier WRs with their bye week this past week
25. Browns – finally got a win and with their bye week this week, hopefully they can readjust
26. Dolphins – shocked the world by beating the Pats….can they do it again against the Chargers?
27. Chiefs – no longer winless and LJ is starting to pick up some steam
28. Raiders – Kiffin being fired makes this team worse off in my opinion
29. Texans – not looking good for a team with a lot of promise
30. Bengals – Not looking good with Palmer, so don’t expect things to get much better
31. Lions – Firing Millen was a step in the right direction…now they just need to win a few games
32. Rams – first team to fire their coach…and Bulger is back as starter…now they just have to win

NFL Power Rankings - Week 4

1. Cowboys – Can you give me a better team out there in the NFL? Though, as witnessed last year and in years past, the best team doesn’t always mean a Super Bowl ring.
2. Giants – Team 2 from the NFC East (or Beast as some are calling it). Almost lost it to the Bungles, but they pulled it out.
3. Eagles – The NFC East AGAIN! McNabb is healthy. Westbrook may be injured, but he will be able to play, pretty sure.
4. Titans – Kerry Collins?! But hey, they’re winning the textbook way: solid running game and an excellent defense.
5. Steelers – close loss but they still stay close to the top
6. Bills – They like their come from behind wins. 3-0 start for the first time since they last lost the Super Bowl
7. Broncos – Got lucky, but they need to start playing some serious defense if they plan to take control of the AFC
8. Packers – Battle of NFC supremacy went to the Cowboys, but this a team to still reckon with. Rodgers will develop into a quality QB soon
9. Chargers – Solid win on MNF and LT looks like he’s back to form. Don’t let their poor start to the season fool you
10. Panthers – Steve Smith = a loss. No Steve Smith = a win. I really don’t think this is the case, just the fact that they have to adjust the game plan with him back and they faced a super tough Vikings D
11. Jaguars – nice upset over the Colts. A popular upset pick for the playoffs, they need to regain some kind of form. Fred Taylor and MJD getting back on track is a good start
12. Colts – They’ve got a much needed bye this week. The need to take control back in the AFC South or they might be in danger of not making the playoffs
13. Buccaneers – apparently old means wins. Who would have known that Griese still had it
14. Patriots – Humiliation. Looks as though the “football gods” are enacting revenge this year.
15. Redskins – Jason Campbell is looking great. Tough task this week though with the ‘Boys
16. Saints – falling in a hurry. Anyone want to play defense?
17. Ravens – Undefeated with a new coach and rookie QB….I wonder if I should place them higher…
18. Cardinals – first loss means a drop in the rankings. Toss up this week with the Jets
19. Vikings – Gus did well in his first start in forever. Can he keep it up though?
20. Bears – They have the looks of a powerful team, but can they learn how to finish games
21. Jets – Favre usually performs on Monday nights, but it was time for Philip Rivers to have a MNF party this week
22. 49ers – These guys just might be for real. Wait, I’ve been hearing that for the past 3 years. Their tough schedule will let us know for sure.
23. Seahawks – Ground game improving and their bye week gives them hope that their WRs get a little healthier
24. Falcons – good team against bad teams. Can they start playing with the big boys though?
25. Dolphins – It only took 3 games to get a win!! I hope that you remembered to start Ronnie Brown on your fantasy team!
26. Browns – Brady Quinn better get ready. I didn’t think Anderson would be a one year wonder though.
27. Texans – this team is in an apparent QB controversy and with the Jags up next that might not bode too well.
28. Bengals – Almost upset the defending champs. They are in a must win mode now.
29. Raiders – Whats up with all the Lane Kiffen rumors? Just let him coach! He’s doing fine!
30. Lions – The owner’s son has spoke up…will there be any action? I sure hope so
31. Chiefs – Are they going to win a game?!
32. Rams – see the Chiefs…two 0-16 teams isn’t possible….is it?

NFL Power Rankings - Week 3

1. Cowboys – What a nice game on Monday night! Kudos to TO for getting a couple TDs and helping my fantasy team. Talks going on about how there were 15 million viewers and most of them were watching bc of fantasy implications….I know it’s the only reason I was watching.
2. Steelers – Ugly win against Cleveland, but a win is a win and if its over a division rival, its all the bigger. Steelers are pretty much the front-runner in the AFC if they keep winning.
3. Packers – game got closer than they expected I think, but that powerful D showed up and had a few picks, two for TDs….Favre who?
4. Giants – Super Bowl Champs are 2-0 without two of the key defensive players from last year. And still winning on the road too. Nice to see that they’ve picked up from where they left off.
5. Eagles – So close to the win. What a game. These Eagles are back. Donovan McNabb is back. Did you see him scramble a few times? What injury? Can’t wait to see how the NFC East turns out.
6. Patriots – 2-0 but without Brady. As long as no one quits on Cassel (aka Moss), they could still win the division. But can Cassel really pull off what Brady did 7 years ago?
7. Panthers – Undefeated and without Steve Smith. Nobody dares ask this, but I think I will. Do they need Steve Smith? We’ll see. But the thinking is that they’ll improve even more with him. The D is looking hungry and ready to be back at the top once again.
8. Colts – Lucky to be 1-1 if you ask me. The Vikes just couldn’t put it away though. If this team gets healthy, they could be very dangerous
9. Broncos – Speaking of dangersous, watch out for these guys. They currently sit atop the AFC West and both wins were division games. Jay Cutler was supposed to have his coming out party this year, and it looks like he is. With the AFC a little more wide open, they could quickly shoot to the top.
10. Titans – Good defense. The only reason they are in the top ten. They also lead their division…that’s huge for them. First 2-0 start since 1999, the year they went to the Super Bowl. Could they do it again? With Kerry Collins?!
11. Bills – They’re off to a nice start. Could easily be at 3-0 after this weekend.
12. Cardinals – 2-0…leading the division. Finally, after being touted as a sleeper team the past three years, they’re doing something. But with Kurt Warner? Didn’t see that coming
13. Chargers – At 0-2, this week is a must win game. Didn’t think I’d say that this early in the season. And its against Brett “I love performing on MNF” Favre and the Jets….should be an exciting game.
14. Saints – Didn’t think it would be this bad for them already. They gotta win and soon
15. Bears – Their D is keeping them in games, like usual. As long as Orton doesn’t make mistakes, this could be a team to reckon with.
16. Jets – Old man Favre got beat by young guy Cassel. I don’t think they’ve got anything to worry about though, I mean, its Brett Favre…and he’s playing on MNF this week. Can’t wait
17. Buccaneers – Gruden loves his QBs, but they sure are old. They gotta compete with a tough division foe in the Panthers, but like the Panthers, they’ve got a tough D.
18. Jaguars – Not the start they were hoping for. In danger of going 0-3 against the Colts this week. I hear Joey Porter back though….
19. Redskins – A solid win for the forgotten team in the NFC East
20. Ravens – A bye week on week 2 is going to mean a long rest of the season
21. Vikings – Frerotte is still in the league? Wow… If the Vikes could get a good QB for them, they’d would be a complete game
22. Browns – Last year’s Cinderella…this year’s lets-jump-on-their-bandwagon team that doesn’t live up to their hype
23. 49ers – JT O’Sullivan isn’t too bad and if you can play two QBs in your fantasy league, he’s worth a pickup…or if you just have a horrible QB as it is this week
24. Texans – Another team that had promise that isn’t showing it out of the gate. As with the Ravens, its going to be a long season with this past week being their bye
25. Falcons – Matt Ryan and Michael Turner came back down to earth, but expect them to reach the skies again this week
26. Raiders – Will we see another episode of the “Darren McFadden Show” again this week?
27. Seahawks – If you can run fast and have good hands, go try out for these guys…seriously…you might just make the team
28. Bengals – I thought their defense was bad….but their offense is stinking it up too
29. Lions – Calvin Johnson is the best thing going for them
30. Dolphins – Parcells’ rebuilding project isn’t going to well so far….
31. Rams – This used to be the Greatest Show on Turf as a friend and I were talking about this past week. To only go back a few years….
32. Chiefs – Down to their third QB. They’re in for a long season
